This step seems premature.
Nintendo is facing another consumer lawsuit, due to circumstances not entirely of their own making.
Last year, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa warned of the impact the Liberation Day tariffs would have, not only on the company’s profits, but also the lives of its customers.
Last August 2025, Nintendo announced price increases for several products in the US that may be directly related to the tariffs. There has been long-standing unproven speculation that the Switch 2’s price is also due to tariffs.
Jumping to this week, the US government is starting to comply with a Supreme Court decision that declared the tariffs unlawful. A new program called Consolidation Administration and Entry Processing will process refunds to companies that paid rates.
However, this decision does not come with an obligation to pass it on to consumers. Fedex promised to give customers refunds, while Costco said they would lower prices. Nintendo has made no such commitment.
This is what caused plaintiffs Gregory Hoffert and Prashant Sharan to sue Nintendo for the refund. Of course, this is contingent on Nintendo actually receiving the refund.
Costco’s own statement also acknowledged their uncertainty regarding these refunds. Of course, we’re all now waiting for Nintendo’s response.

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
